Galvanized bread production lines for Pain VictoireAugust 2011 – In Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, every morning the Pain Victoire bakery is a hive of activity. The bakery produces 2.7 million baguettes and Pullman loaves per day. The steel parts of ten bread production lines, in total approximately 350 tons of steel, were hot-dip galvanized by Verzinkerij Wolvega. The baguettes and Pullman loaves produced by Pain Victoire are sold in batches of 25, packed in crates and delivered to customers in the suburbs, with their own vans. Approximately 60% of the 2.7 million loaves are immediately bought by Mamas. These Mamas employ young ladies to repackage the loaves in a sort of laundry basket that they carry on their heads to sell the loaves in the centre of Kinshasa. Kaak Group of Terborg supplied ten production lines to Pain Victoire. The steel parts of these production lines were hot-dip galvanized by Verzinkerij Wolvega. These lines are used every day to produce Pullman loaves, finger rolls, croissants and baguettes. Pain Victoire not only delivers bread; it also boosts the local economy, offering employment and local trade. That is Pain Victoire's contribution to the development of Congo. |
